Watercolour painting in the Alpujarra, Andalucía
Enjoy a fabulous tutored course in one of the most beautiful parts of Spain – prices from £940 for six nights. Date: 6 May to 12 May 2018.
Your break in the Alpujarra region of Andalucía includes painting, transfers to locations, meals and accommodation.
- 4 days’ tuition from professional watercolour artist Klaus Hinkel
- 6 nights’ accommodation in a stylish 200-year-old farmhouse
- pre-arranged airport transfers
- all meals (except mid-week ‘free day’)
- transfers to and from painting locations
Groups are small (up to 8 people) with around six hours of group tuition per painting day. Beginners to experienced are all welcome – as are non-painting partners.
The Alpujarra is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Granada province and is regarded as one of the most romantic and stunning landscapes in Andalucía. With echoes of its Arabic past – from the architecture to the food – it’s famous for its traditional ‘white villages’.
Set up in a quiet, shady backstreet draped in bourganvillea and geraniums – or perhaps capture a shop scene of colourful rugs and ceramics.
You’ll also paint at Almond Hill House where there are various nooks and crannies and amazing mountain views.
About the tutor
Klaus Hinkel is a renowned artist with over 25 years’ experience in watercolours, linocuts, sculptures and acrylics.
His subject matter is broad – from landscapes to still-life – but his passion is painting the beautiful ‘white villages’ and cityscapes of Andalucía, capturing the incredible light here.
Klaus works with the group throughout the day so you’ll get plenty of one-to-one guidance on techniques, subject matter and approaches to watercolour painting – all at your own pace. There’s also the opportunity to discuss the work of the group as a whole – a great way to learn!

- two acres of private grounds with stunning mountain views
- five beautiful en-suite bedrooms, individually-designed
- large, solar-heated pool
